IOTA’s New ‘Spectra’ Garden Sculpture Launched at GLEE 2006
IOTA’s Spectra garden sculpture collection
was launched to the British trade at GLEE 2006, following a successful prior international launch at Spoga+Gafa in Cologne.Spectra garden sculpture
is a new direction in outdoor art for IOTA. The design concept uses contemporary sculptures in mirror polished stainless steel (for which IOTA is already well-known), in combination with transparent coloured acrylic. This marriage of modern materials has created garden art pieces that are fun and fascinating, and which make an innovative focal point in any garden. There are two sub-ranges within the Spectra garden sculpture brand:
Spectra Columns: these are slim columns of mirror polished stainless steel, inset with panels of coloured acrylic. They seize the sun’s rays and transform them into vibrant colours, casting brilliant shadows along the ground.
Individual garden art pieces: the Spectra range includes a number of one-off designs, also made from combining stainless steel with acrylic. These pieces include the Tree, Bullrushes and Double Helix – the latter being a kinetic sculpture which spins freely, creating a twisting vortex-like visual effect.
Said Kate Hancock, IOTA’s Marketing Director:
“We launched our Reflecting garden sculpture back in 2001, since which time designs like the Shaft of Light have become ‘modern classics’. Certainly, mirrored garden sculpture has an unadorned charm and enigmatic quality which will never age.”“However, five years later, we thought it was time to have a bit of fun, and to inject some colour into our garden art offer! Although aimed at a different market, the Spectra garden sculptures are made to exactly the same quality standards as everything else we do, and their vibrant colours will lift the spirits on the dullest day!”
