The ‘Reflecting Garden’ Provides a Showcase for IOTA’s Garden Sculpture
IOTA’s contemporary garden art
was showcased to dramatic effect at the Gardeners World Live 2003 exhibition at the NEC. Designed by television garden presenter David Domoney, the ‘Reflecting Garden’ was a real showstopper, and cast a media spotlight on the trend for using mirrors in the garden. The garden featured striking ‘Shaft of Light’ mirrored steel sculptures
from IOTA, which reflected the colourful profusion of the borders. IOTA also supplied sixty mirror-polished steel panels which formed a continuous mirrored wall around three sides of the courtyard setting, creating a magical trompe l’oeil effect which appeared to double the space of the garden. Prominent in the centre of the garden, a raised terrace area was accented with black granite planters from IOTA’s extensive range of natural stone garden planters.‘When David Domoney approached us about the garden, we were delighted to be involved’ said Mark Chessell, IOTA’s Chief Executive. ‘IOTA is all about providing inspirational and affordable alternatives to traditional garden products, and David certainly set out to push the boundaries with this garden! It was a great challenge, and also great fun – and I’m delighted that it was awarded an RHS Silver Medal.”
