Multi-Material Solutions
Natural Timber / Composite
Timber is the most commonly-specified ancillary material for landscape products – most obviously for seating, but also for planters and fencing/screens. In addition to FSC hardwoods, of all kinds, and European Oak, IOTA also has experience of working with composite timbers.

Natural Stone / CeramicsIOTA has developed and refined techniques to apply a wide range of cladding products directly to steel planters. The clad planters deliver the desired aesthetic of the exterior cladding, whilst relying on the superior strength and strength-to-weight ratio of steel for the planters’ technical performance.
After timber, the cladding products most commonly specified are slate, granite and other stone tiles, and ceramic and porcelain tiles. The design intent is typically to match, or complement, existing hard landscaping materials; to meet planning conditions, in terms of the style and character of existing fascias; and/or to create highly individualised schemes, based on the decorative possibilities of cladding.

Glass / AcrylicWhen combined with laser cut-out sheet metal, acrylic can be used to great effect to create a lighting feature.
Glass – typically toughened glass – is most often used to add a barrier functionality to planters, for example in an outdoor dining area for a restaurant. Where stability is an issue, glass may be substituted for a lighter material, such as polycarbonate.

ElectricalsIOTA can supply complete electrical packages, pre-installed into planters and other products, ready for on-site electrical service connection.
Most often, this requirement relates to lighting – particularly LED underlighting, which can add a ‘wow factor’ at relatively modest cost.

Branding / SignageApplying a vinyl decal to the planters is generally the cheapest technique to communicate relatively complex messages, such as branding.
However, there are myriad other means by which sheet metal planters can be surface decorated to support branding, or other additional functional / aesthetic requirements.
