Adare Manor Hotel, Co. Limerick, Ireland

Bespoke lead tree planters were commissioned for the five-star, multi-award-winning Adare Manor Hotel in Co. Limerick, Ireland.

Adare Manor has 104 rooms, spa, golf resort and Michelin Star restaurant, all set in 840 acres of pristine parkland. The hotel was named Hotel of the Year 2018 at the prestigious Virtuoso Best of the Best Awards in Las Vegas; and the Number 1 Golf Resort in Europe by the Condé Nast Traveler Readers Choice Awards 2019. The hotel has also been selected to host the Ryder Cup in 2026.

Adare Manor reopened in November 2017 after a 21-month restoration, refurbishment and expansion project; and IOTA’s planters formed part of extensive landscape improvement works conducted by Peter O’Brien Landscaping.

The design for the planters was originated by IOTA; and features definite counter-relief moulding to accent, and add substance, to the planter rim and footing, combined with a subtle relief moulding to frame the planter sides. The design is unpretentious and timeless; in keeping with the stated soul of Adare Manor –  “prestige without pretence and magic without nonsense”.

A total of 20nr. planters were supplied, of dims. L / W / H 800mm and 1200mm [the largest planters weighing 369 kg]. The planters were manufactured from 3.15mm thick Lead, clad onto a structural Stainless Steel subframe; and the resulting double-skin construction delivers the unique aesthetic of lead, whilst relying on the superior strength and strength-to-weight ratio of steel for the planters’ technical performance. The planters are braced internally, and include 4nr. steel eye bolts in the base [to serve as both tree anchor points, and lifting points during installation].
