IOTA’s Boulevard planters were selected for the extensive leisure and retail redevelopment of the canal-side waterfront, at Castle Quay in Banbury.
A total of 38 large planters were used in this scheme, specifically the three largest sizes of the KYOTO design:
KYOTO 70 Dia. 700 x H 540mm, Vol. 160L
KYOTO 90 Dia. 900 x H 700mm, Vol. 400L
KYOTO 120 Dia. 1200 x H 900mm, Vol. 950L
The standard colour was chosen – RAL 7016 [Anthracite grey] – which acts as a perfect neutral foil for the lush and architectural planting scheme.
Boulevard planters are a range of high-performance composite planters made from a proprietary form of Fibre Reinforced Cement [FRC]. All Boulevard planters possess an exceptional strength-to-weight ratio, making them suitable for a wide range of environments – from weight-restricted areas, to interiors, to public spaces and streetscapes.
The new 506,000sqft Castle Quay Waterfront development in Banbury is being delivered by McLaren for Cherwell District Council, and comprises restaurant and leisure space, utilising the canal side setting. When complete, the complex will include a 117-bed Premier Inn, a ten-screen Light Cinema and 244 new parking spaces. The development will also feature a new Lidl superstore with a 438-space two-level car park. New experiences will enhance the town centre, creating a dynamic evening economy for residents and visitors alike.
