Contemporary Roof Terrace

Information

IOTA’s Fresco planters are used throughout this contemporary scheme for the roof terrace of a listed manor house in Bedfordshire.

The distinctive look of Fresco planters is inspired by Italian polished plaster, with tone-on-tone shades of warm grey. The look is contemporary, without being hard-edged, and the planters work equally well in traditional or modern settings. In this particular scheme, the planters act as a bridge between bold modern furniture and the traditional brick and stone building, and simple architectural planting is used throughout to further unify the scheme.

The roof terrace is on two levels, each with a different aspect and discrete seating areas. The planters are used functionally within the design to demarcate the transition between areas, to add planted height and interest, and to create a barrier wall and screen along one side of the lower terrace. The planters chosen are simple geometric cubes, troughs and columns, which combine easily in any number of configurations.
