3.0mm Thick Corten Steel Planters For Edinburgh City Council
Back to Projects

Edinburgh City Council

Project Location: Edinburgh EH1

Corten Steel tree planters were commissioned by The City of Edinburgh Council, as part of streetscape improvements to Leith Walk – one of the longest streets in Edinburgh, and the main connecting route from the city centre to Leith.

The 14nr. planters are of cylindrical form with dims. Dia 1200 x H 1000mm, and were manufactured from 2.0mm thick Corten Steel. The planter design incorporates channel apertures for movement via pallet truck or forklift; and they also include 3nr. steel eye bolts in the base, to serve as attachment points for a tree anchoring system.

Corten Steel planters are extremely durable and long lasting, and require no maintenance, and are thus ideal for public realm schemes. Corten Steel [aka ‘Weathering Steel’] contains alloys that cause its surface to develop a self-protecting rust when exposed to weather; and this protective surface layer will repair itself immediately if damaged mechanically.
