Edinburgh Gate, Harlow CM20

Large bespoke steel planters were commissioned for the residential redevelopment of Edinburgh Gate, Harlow CM20

The main planters are located within three full-height atria, which form the central heart of the building; and the largest planters were L 6496 x W 2500 x H 1050mm. All planters are of complex form, and fabricated from 2.0mm Zintec Steel, with a Polyester Powder Coat [PPC] finish to reference Mars 2525 Sablé [YX355F] from Interpon's Collection Futura range.

The designs for the Atrium Planters also included provision for LED under lighting [supplied by IOTA pre-assembled], and associated electrical service connection. The planters also include hinged doors, opening to a set of electrical sockets, for utility use – such as cleaning. Finally, all planters are sealed watertight internally, given their use in an interior space.

In addition to the Atrium Planters, IOTA also designed, supplied and installed 16nr. steel planters which form a safety barrier around the viewing platforms at each level. The solution is simple, low-cost, yet effective, based on a 40 x 40 x 2.5mm SHS frame within the planters, fastened into structural concrete floor beams via 12nr. resin anchors per planter. The solution was Structural Engineer certified, as part of IOTA’s delivery.
