Berkeley Square, London W1

Information

IOTA was commissioned to supply bespoke stainless steel planters and benching, for communal roof terraces at the TWENTY Berkeley Square office redevelopment.

Designed by architects Barr Gazetas, the redevelopment has delivered office and restaurant space of the highest quality, styled to honour the art-deco roots of the original 1930s building. The communal roof terraces were designed by Andy Sturgeon Design, and afford panoramic views over Mayfair’s most prestigious square.

IOTA's Scope of Works included:

  • Bespoke planters constructed from 316-grade Stainless Steel featuring a geometric 'picture frame' detail to the front faces – reflecting art deco details from within the building.
  • Premium specialist paint finishes [provided by Artistic Metals Ltd] providing contrast between the planters/benches, finished in Pewter, and the 'picture frames' finished in Brass.
  • Bespoke linear benching with a full-length backrest. Fabricated from 316-grade Stainless Steel to create the structural shell, fitted with FSC Iroko hardwood. The bench timber seating is hinged and fitted with gas struts, to provide smooth operation while accessing storage areas below.
  • The benching was also designed with the provision to integrate LED rope-lights to illuminate a shadow gap at the base of the unit.
  • Irrigation units were built and supplied within each planter unit.

Finally, all items were shipped with additional protective packaging, to allow crane lifting to the respective terraces on the 9th floor.
