CAD Visualisations Of Tree Planters And Planter Frontage At Intercontinental Hotel London
Back to Projects

Intercontinental Hotel

Project Location: Park Lane, London

Bespoke steel planters were commissioned from IOTA for the Intercontinental Hotel, Park Lane, London.

Eight large street planters were fabricated, each being a unique design in polygonal form, shaped to fit the existing paving around mature London Plane trees at the intersection of Park Lane and Piccadilly. In each case one of the faces is removable, to facilitate installation; and the planters are constructed from 1.5mm thick pregalvanised steel, powder coated to RAL 9011 [Graphite Black] in mid-sheen finish.

The planters are the first phase of a comprehensive exterior container-based landscaping scheme designed by IOTA for the hotel. The complete scheme includes statement planting at the entrance; extensive planting along the frontage of the hotel; and the creation of the planted pavement beds shown here. Given the high public visibility and brand sensitivity of the proposals, IOTA used photomontage techniques to develop 3d CAD visualisations to assist in communicating the scheme to the client.
