IOTA also offers extensive post-contract support services – including site survey and inspection, damage assessment and remedial works.
IOTA can also organise routine on-site maintenance and refinishing services – such as wet spray paint reapplication.
IOTA was contracted to design and manufacture bespoke planters and seating, for the roof terrace of a new corporate headquarters building in Aberdeen.
Given the exposed location and harsh environment, and thus risk of corrosion, 3.0mm Aluminium was specified; powder coated to RAL 7016 [Anthracite grey] in a robust, hard-wearing paint formulation. The timber used was European Oak.
It was subsequently found that the timber supplied to IOTA was too ‘green’, and had not been sufficiently kiln-dried, and was leaching onto the paving. After allowing the timber a period to weather, IOTA attended site and applied specialist timber sealers to stop any further leaching. And IOTA also organised specialist cleaning of the paving, to bring the site up to the expected standard.
IOTA was contracted to supply bespoke steel planters for One Braham – a new 18-storey building in the heart of the City of London, and the new corporate headquarters for BT.
This was a sizeable project, comprising 20nr. individual planters, each of substantial scale; including tree planters up to L 2990 x W 2390 x H 955mm, with the largest planter having dims. L 19680 x W 1650 x H 1250mm supplied in 8nr. sections.
Subsequently, IOTA was further contracted to conduct in-situ refinishing of all planters. The terrace hard landscaping, and the planting, were protected; and the planters were fully prepared, masked and re-sprayed.
IOTA was commissioned to supply 22nr. Corten Steel planters with LED underlighting, 12nr. including European Oak timber seating, for the Notting Dale Village Campus development in West London.
IOTA was not initially contracted to survey the site, nor to design the planters to falls, nor to install. After installation, it was found that the falls in the hard landscaping were problematic, and a remedial solution was required to accommodate these falls.
IOTA was further contracted to conduct a complete site survey; and to design, and retrospectively install, bespoke Corten Steel plinths to 16nr. of the planters. IOTA also organised specialist cleaning of the paving, to address fouling arising from the initial installation.
